Character Info
Name: Vladimir Z. Rokein (real name: Zekarion Altier)
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Race: Pyrokinetic Mystic Race (i.e. superhuman with fire-controlling abilities)
Appearance: Zekarion stands at 6'2", with a somewhat athletic build. He has short black hair in a layered style, and his eyes are an abnormal gold color with slitted pupils. His skin is about a shade darker than a typical caucasian and a shade lighter than a typical middle-eastern man. His features are sharp, he has a somewhat prominent jawline, and he's perpetually clean-shaven (whether this is a result of the traits of his race or due to his own habits is unclear). All of this, along with his excellent posture and the proud way he carries himself, tends to make him a bit intimidating to most people. His typical attire consists of a 2-piece suit and tie, though in more casual settings he may wear a long-sleeved t-shirt/sweater and jeans/khakis. It's extremely rare for him to wear shorts or short sleeves; only on extremely hot days (i.e. >100 F) would he consider it.
Personality: On the surface he appears to be a sharp-minded businessman, eloquent in speech and refined in tastes. Outside of his work, he's seen as a polite gentleman, often offering help to people who are struggling with something (bags, can't get a taxi, etc). However, to those in the know, he's immensely manipulative, capable of extreme cruelty, and a bit of a sadist. Even so, there's still a bit of kindness buried deep in him (and I do mean deep) that may be provoked from his childhood friends or those who have suffered through a situation similar to his own. There are few people he genuinely respects, and he tends to only show such feelings in private.
For those familiar with TV Tropes, he might be described as a Well Intentioned Extremist, Chessmaster and/or Magnificent Bastard. (Don't get sucked in if you look it up. I warned you.)
History: His name was the only thing his birth parents gave him, as a warning to those who met him. Recognizing his golden eyes as an omen, they called him Zekarion, "Destruction Reborn" in an approximate translation of their ancient language. (About 2000 years previous, an individual of their race who went by the name of "Zekar" caused an apocalypse that nearly wiped out all life and changed the geography of the Earth itself--his distinguishing feature being his eye color.) Leaving him with just that, they left him in a forest near a human town, where he was found and adopted by a sympathetic couple.
The first ten years of his life were probably the happiest. His neighbors, Haruken Shirashiki and his little sister Akane, as well as the similarly adopted Zach Aurence and his little brother Kent, quickly became good friends, and he often spent time playing with them during and after school. Haru, as he called him, was his best friend, and he was almost as protective of Akane as her brother was. At one point, however, he started noticing odd things about himself--he could put out a flame by simply thinking about it, he couldn't be burned, and strange red markings began to appear on his face. While he and his adoptive parents were visiting the Shirashiki's house, he decided to reveal these things to them. Instead of understanding or comfort, however, he was met with disgust and superstition. Terrified, he fled, accidentally causing his friends' home to burn down in the process. He would believe them all dead until much later, the guilt haunting him.
After a few days of roaming hopelessly in the nearby forest, he encountered a man of the Mystic Race, more specifically a photokinetic (light-manipulating) dragon. This man, Glen, took Zekarion back with him to his clan's home, far removed from human society. For ten years, Zekarion was cared for by the man and his clan, and he would, through his life, continue to feel grateful for his kindness. While there, he was given the education of a nobleman, learning much about the subjects studied in human society as well as the disciplines of the magical society. In the process, he learned of his own clan (who would not likely accept him due to his name and supposed destructive nature) and the story of his vicious ancestor.
At 20, Glen's uncle, the current ruler of the dragon clans, requested that both Zekarion and Glen go search for his child, who would have been about 7 at the time. Accepting the task, the two headed back to human society and slowly but surely made their way into one of the largest information networks aside from the government: a major conglomerate called ECLIPSE. Originally, they intended to find the child as quickly as possible and take her back to their home, but the search proved more difficult than they thought. They only had a last name to go by, and did not know the gender of the child, or even if the name (either the child or the mother) had since changed.
At 25, Zekarion was caught up in a hostage situation in a bank, which soon ended in disaster. After the captors killed nearly all of the others, he unleashed his fire-manipulating powers on them to save the rest of his fellow hostages. Unfortunately, this caused the hidden suicide bomb on one of the men to explode, killing another two of the hostages and severely injuring the remaining three. Zekarion himself was mostly unharmed, unable to be burned, and the survivors only displayed fear and disgust at his abilities and actions. This was a major turning point--the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. From this point onward he viewed humans as unaccepting, cruel creatures who only cared for themselves. Nearly every day he would see and interpret their actions as selfish and unkind, furthering his hate.
A year later, he became the head of security for the main ECLIPSE building, giving him access to most of the files available in the system. Shortly after, Glen became the Vice President of said company due to his excellent (though often silent) leadership. If that name appeared anywhere in the system, they would know. At this time, however, Zekarion began to aspire to eliminate the human race after finding the child; his plan being to unleash an extremely volatile gas in all of the major cities, then starting the final spark himself to watch the world burn--just as his ancestor had. He was resolved to his apparent destiny.
When he was 29, a group called the Solar Organized Resistance (SOR) arose, apparently intent on exposing ECLIPSE's (and thus, Zekarion's) crimes. Among the members were Haruken, Zach and Kent, now intent on revenge for their families being taken. Akane had died in the fire, however, as he feared, reminding him of the guilt. Also in this group was a girl calling herself Ryoko, aged 15, who showed abilities similar to Glen. Suspecting this was likely the child they were looking for, Zekarion became a bit impatient with his plan, and decided to provoke the group (and therefore, the girl) to pursue him further so he could confirm these suspicions. Through quite a bit of detective work, he discovered one of the sources of their funding (a couple with the last name Gouka), and the school at which the girl went to school before. He burned both the couple's home and the school building to the ground, leaving no survivors--or so he thought.
Soon after, he found the son of the couple--Shinju Gouka--in one of ECLIPSE's psychiatric wards, and decided to use him as a tool to draw the girl even closer. He manipulated the evidence so the news proclaimed SOR to be the cause of the sudden fires, and then persuaded the young man to pursue revenge. Zekarion became his temporary legal guardian (unbeknownst to Gouka) and gave him a job at ECLIPSE's security, where it would be likely for him to meet Ryoko. While Gouka was exiting the ward, a few of "SOR's followers" (hired by Zekarion himself, intending to further the young man's drive for revenge) came and attacked the exiting patients, again leaving only the boy alive. However, his plan hit a bit of a snag: after being so traumatized for a third time, Shinju lost his memory.
As he was attempting to help the other restore his memories, the young man was taken by the girl--disguised, thanks to her light-manipulating powers--and through certain events (the details are unknown to Zekarion), Gouka regained his memories and was blinded by Ryoko. After receiving a distress call from the boy, he was able to track him down and take him back to the ECLIPSE building. Seeing his opportunity slipping away slowly, he arranged the death of the current CEO/President of ECLIPSE, and became the leader of the company himself. Not too long after this, the girl was able to find a remedy for the blindness she caused and cured Shinju, who went to help SOR, now suspecting the truth behind all of his loss.
Displeased with the loss of his favorite pawn, he used one of his many informants to arrange a plan: he would claim to have captured Ryoko, telling Gouka to come if he wanted to free her. As he thought, everything wentJUST AS PLANNED smoothly, and after telling him the truth about the cause of his loss, he used an ancient curse to inflict unbearable pain and make the boy obey him. He then proceeded to physically and psychologically torture Gouka until he broke down completely, conceding to Zekarion and being forced to fight the people he now knew to be innocent. So Zekarion would wait until the girl, fueled by rage, revealed herself as a dragon of royal blood.
Another snag in the plan occurred, however; while in the city, Gouka saved a small boy at the risk of his own life. While he wasn't harmed, this struck Zekarion as impossible--the curse disabled him whenever he was aware he was about to do something that would endanger his life. After a moment of thought, the man realized that Shinju hadn't even thought about his own life, instead only focusing on the boy's; a completely selfless act Zekarion thought was impossible for the race. He was reawakened to the kindness of humans, and very slowly, he began to see the good in others' actions again, including his prisoner's. The guilt finally surfacing, he attempted to treat the young man with more respect, no longer causing him pain intentionally. He also began to try atoning for his previous actions and thoughts, donating anonymously to charities and rewriting the unforgiving company policies (harsh penalties for missed payments, unsympathetic rules for hospitals and the like) he'd previously instated.
Meanwhile, Gouka was apparently developing symptoms of Stockholm's Syndrome, and the thought of liking, even admiring the man who'd caused him so much pain was too much for Shinju. The next time Ryoko came to try and free him, he followed her far from the building and forced her to kill him. As he died, the curse was broken, and realizing this, Zekarion flew into a grief-stricken rage and burned down an entire town a few miles away. Thinking the world cruel for letting such a kind, innocent young man die, he resolved again to destroy it, intending to go with it. And this is from when he is taken.
Skills/Abilities/Powers: As a member of the mystic race, Zekarion has heightened senses of smell, touch, hearing and sight. His clan in particular is extremely sensitive to temperature, able to tell how hot or cold something is down to roughly a tenth of a degree (Fahrenheit). He also has heightened strength, able to easily lift, say, a desk, but not to a ridiculous extent (i.e. he can't pick up a car and throw it). He can perform a few miscellaneous spells such as minor healing, illumination, and curses. Zekarion is capable of a sort of "domination" over those of weak wills--one look into his eyes and the victim will have no choice but to listen to the man, though they may be able to struggle against and break this if they feel strongly enough about it. He also happens to be trained in (and talented with) the use of a rapier, though he can work with most blades.
Being a pyrokinetic, he can both create and control normal fire, as well as a special kind of fire unable to be put out by normal means. This kind of fire will only go out if covered with a water spell of the same sort, if the energy put into it by the caster is cut off, or if it reaches a limit of distance set by the caster. Theoretically, it could burn through the entire earth if left alone, but it will constantly drain energy from the caster, making it extremely unlikely for Zekarion to attempt.
Weaknesses: The energy that is drained when he uses his powers is not simply the temporary energy bestowed by sustenance, but his life force. Therefore, each time he uses (any of) his powers, his life is shortened. By the time he finished his grief-induced rampage, he'd already used more than half of his (normally ~130 year) lifespan.
Any degree of cold will discourage him from a fight, though if the temperature is low enough, his abilities will be disabled almost completely. He's also unable to swim, though water in general isn't likely to dissuade him. If you happen to have red hair and green eyes, it's likely he'll hesitate before attacking (if in battle) or give you a disturbed, guilty stare for a moment (if not in battle). The same, though a little more severe, will occur if your hair is a very specific color of brown.
Anything else? Uhhh... not that I can think of? I just kind of spilled out about everything you need to know ever in the history section. Oh, "Altier" is the last name of Glen and his relatives, not of his adoptive or real parents. Zekarion took it because he considers Glen an older brother. "Vladimir Zekarion Rokein" is the fake name he uses for official business in human society, having persuaded the former CEO of ECLIPSE, Seth Rokein, to adopt him. If I need to expand on anything (even if just for your modship's curiosity), please let me know! Also, any instances of "unclear" can be replaced with "the author hasn't decided yet".

I appeared in this place in an odd state of affairs. I would have rather arrived in an unfamiliar setting with a bit more composure, but I suppose it doesn't matter much now, does it? I have no reputation here. There are hardly any people around from what I have seen, some of which aren't human, much like myself. I admit, it's almost a bit of a relief to be able to reveal my nature without fear of being hated.Such a change from what I'm used to. I suppose there are benefits and disadvantages to revealing it, but I will deal with those when the time comes. For now, I need to rest.
I suppose a gun would be more efficient, but even so--can anyone tell me where I might find a blade?

Zekarion, finally having found a proper, not charred set of clothes, strode through the store, tired eyes tracing the line of polished blades on the wall. He'd heard of unpleasant things lurking around in certain parts of the Citadel, and he didn't intend to use his powers on such a trivial matter. It was likely he could handle any minor monsters with his hands alone, but he was fond of the feel of a rapier in his hands--there was a certain elegance to fighting with such a weapon. The intricate design in the hilt and the gentle taper of the metal were strangely attractive. He always did have a strange taste in beauty, he thought briefly.
Spotting a sword with a detailed wire hilt, the man carefully lifted the blade off the wall and examined it closely, cautiously taking it in his hand and testing the weight and feel of it. A small smile found its way onto his features, of the rare sincere variety. He could truly appreciate the hard work that went into a finely crafted rapier such as this one. Finding its sheath, equally intricate, he slid the blade in until it gave a satisfying clack. Though pleased with this choice, he continued to look among the other weapons, if just to see the variety.
Their selection was impressive, he noted, especially for a space station, as the woman had called it. He'd heard of space shuttles traveling to the moon or remaining in the Earth's orbit, but for something this complex to exist, so far from any planet and essentially self-sustaining... it was inconceivable. And yet the woman didn't appear to be lying, nor have any reason to. The idea was going to take a little getting used to.
After drifting off into thought for a moment, he took his chosen weapon and placed it on the counter where the storekeeper stood. He could always find a gun later.
